My client and sister donated $8,000 or appreciated artwork to a charity. Is this considered two $4,000 contributions therby avoiding an appraisal or one $8,000 contribution requiring an appraisal?

how did they determine the value of $8,000 without an appraisal? I would imagine art would be something pretty hard to SWAG a value on.
